About This Place

Located in the heart of Manteca, CA, Waffle Cafe is a cherished local restaurant that excels in serving generous, hearty American breakfast and comfort food with a warm, nostalgic twist. Upon stepping inside, diners are greeted by a cozy, vintage 70s-style atmosphere, juxtaposed delightfully against the eatery’s larger-than-it-appears size from the street. This setting perfectly suits the ample, satisfying meals that Waffle Cafe is known for, making it an inviting spot for anyone craving a comforting, home-cooked style breakfast or lunch.

The menu at Waffle Cafe reads like a love letter to classic American diner cuisine, crafted with care and quality ingredients. Signature dishes like the Biscuits and Gravy and their famously huge pancakes set the tone for a fulfilling start to the day. Patrons rave about the Two Eggs Bacon and Waffle — a blissful combination of crispy bacon, fluffy eggs, and golden waffles drenched in syrup that floods the senses with sweet, salty, and savory delights all at once. The Country Omelette and Milwaukee Omelette offer savory, protein-rich options packed with fresh ingredients, while the Chicken Fried Steak and Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich provide heartier options for comfort lunch lovers.

The variety of waffles available is nothing short of impressive. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic Belgian Waffle, a sweet and nutty Banana Pecan Waffle, or something more adventurous like the Strawberry Walnut Waffle or Bacon Pecan Waffle, Waffle Cafe satiates every craving with perfect texture and vibrant flavors. Each bite promises a delightful balance of crispy edges with a tender inside, complemented by the richness of pecans, the natural sweetness of fruit, or the smoky crunch of bacon.

Drinks like freshly squeezed Orange Juice, robust Black Coffee, and indulgent shakes such as Root Beer Float and Grapefruit add an extra layer of satisfaction to the meal, rounding out a dining experience that feels wholesome and nostalgic. This is a place that honors comfort food without cutting corners — as echoed in Carmela Moral’s enthusiastic praise for its authenticity and value compared to modern chain restaurants.

Customer reviews consistently highlight the attentive and friendly service, a testament to the devoted staff who make every visit warm and welcoming. “Our waitress Kayla was great — funny and attentive,” shares Hugh McLaughlin, capturing the attentive and lively ambiance that elevates the dining experience beyond just good food. Meanwhile, regulars like A & E emphasize the consistently large portions and the distinct appeal of items like the breakfast pork chops, which perfectly combine tenderness and bold home-style seasoning.

While some menu changes have been noted, such as the removal of the beloved Ruben sandwich, Waffle Cafe continues to impress with alternatives like the Philly cheese steak sandwich, which remains a hit among devotees for its expertly cooked meat and fresh toppings, as highlighted by the loyal customer SLEEP.

Waffle Cafe is more than just a breakfast spot; it’s a community hub where both locals and visitors can indulge in timeless recipes served with genuine warmth and care. Whether you’re craving a fluffy strawberry almond waffle drizzled with syrup, a robust breakfast combo with hashbrowns on the side, or a comforting chicken waffle combo plate, this café delivers a memorable meal that nourishes the body and soul. For anyone seeking a satisfying, authentic American diner experience with generous portions and heartfelt service, Waffle Cafe on N Main St is a true gem worth every visit.

Finally went to this restaurant yesterday. I had heard a few people saying it was good so I had to see for myself. I am glad that we visited. Breakfast is my favorite meal and this place did not disappoint. It is a much larger restaurant then what appears from the street view. Our waitress was Kayla. She was great. Funny and attentive. Actually it seemed the entire staff was friendly and helpful- now to the food. Our food was well prepared and come hungry because they give you plenty of food. My wife and I ordered the Denver Omelette. Nice big omelette well made for sure. I ordered the Hash Browns with mine and my wife had their Country Potatoes. She liked hers and I liked mine. Next time I will ask them to be a little crisper, only because it had a nice crunch on the outside and the inside was soft but I like mine a little more cooked - like I said I really like Breakfast. We both ordered a Pancake which was huge and really good. The pancake was the size of a serving plate. (See pictures below). The other person with us ordered the Milwaukee Omelette (Fresh Mushrooms and Swiss Cheese) - seems to be a popular item here. If you want a good breakfast served by a friendly staff - please pay them a visit.

Edit: They sadly took the Ruben sandwich off the menu. It was my go to, when visiting here. They do however make a really nice Philly cheese steak sandwich. I usually get the Ruben sandwich, add onions, tomato, lettuce, extra sauerkraut. It's amazing, the meat is so well cooked, and it's kinda my go to here.
